A Place for People to Work

a place for people to workUntil one of John's former co-workers quit recently, this model skeleton sat jauntily where C. had put it: by the front door, beneath a sign that said, "Our Company is The Best Place for the Best People to Work." It wasn't until long after C's placement that John noticed the juxtaposition and took this picture.

John always wanted to change the sign on his last day, so that it said, "Our company is a place for people to work." Obviously, he never got the chance. It would have been more accurate. Part of the existing sign is correct, however. Nearly all of John's co-workers were intelligent, talented, capable people. They usually didn't stay very long, though.

Thanks to everyone for your supportive words. I've got a stress backache right now, and we're certainly worried about money; but overall, John and I feel pretty good. The long household nightmare is over. A new one begins, maybe, but it probably isn't any worse.  We'll cope.

Anyone out there need a slightly used writer-editor-designer-desktop publisher?
